Zumbathon!

Year 7 students from Ysgol Bro Dinefwr, a school in Carmarthenshire, SW Wales have raised £1850 for 2 schools in Cambodia. Miss Emma Pilling, Head of Geography visited the schools on a visit to Siem Reap, Cambodia in 2011 and this is the 2nd time that pupils from the school have raised funds for VDCA. Monies were collected through a sponsored 2 hour Zumba session. Many of the children were in fancy dress and enthusiastically danced to a number of songs lead by the very capable Miss Sam Thomas, a teacher at the school and also a Fitsteps Instructor. The event was organised by some of year 12 as part of the Community Participation element of their advanced Welsh Baccalaureate award.

Miss Emma Pilling, Head of Geography, would like to thank her year 12 form group, Year 7 pupils and their families and friends for all the support that has been given. Particular thanks go to Owen Jenkins, the year 7 pupil who raised the most at £120 and form class 7ND for raising a superb total of £316.50.
